Position overview The role of Engineering Technologist will be to support our production and engineering teams and assist in the maintenance of our advanced manufacturing equipment. The position will focus on the design and production process of switchboards.
The role will draw on previous experience to develop and contribute to optimising processes, conducting material trials, and developing preventative maintenance plans to ensure high production standards and product reliability.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure projects meet design, safety, and operational standards.
Key tasks and responsibilities Design and develop detailed drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other design tools as required. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other professional teams to understand project requirements, design procedures, and contribute to timely delivery of the switchboard solutions. Participate in Quality and Safety Audits to ensure compliance with safety standards. Create and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and technical reports. Assist in identifying and solving technical problems that arise during the switchboards design, production, or operation of systems or products. Apply technical knowledge to find practical solutions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, efficiency, and quality of the operating procedure. Successfully apply both technical and customer service skills to answer client inquiries regarding technical issues during project implementation. Identify potential areas for technological advancement and propose solutions to enhance product performance and user experience. Interact effectively with other professionals and stakeholders to ensure that technology outcomes and developments fully integrate with the overall system and context. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or higher in the field of Engineering, Technology, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in the Switchboard Manufacturing Industry with an understanding of the processes involved in the design, production, and operation of switchboards. Skills Required Proven experience with producing technical documents, such as functional and technical specifications, process drawings, electrical and mechanical layouts, and details. Proficiency in using design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Familiarity with the safety regulations and standards associated with the production of switchboards and related products, ensuring compliance during the design and production process. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in identifying opportunities for technological innovation.
