The Engineering Technician – Mechanical is responsible for the independent application of relevant technical knowledge, techniques, and procedures in support of the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and management of facility assets, infrastructure, and systems. The position is considered a subject matter expert and plays an integral role within a diverse and complex work environment that is responsible for the management and control of critical infrastructure configuration and is a key advisor of the teams and technical disciplines within the Engineering functional area and the Program Site.Responsibilities/DutiesPerform technical studies, analyses, investigations, and consultations.Identify, define, and develop detailed requirements for facility infrastructure, equipment, and system modification, replacement, upgrade and/or recapitalization.Provide technical support to engineering and design staff in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electrical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications.Review and provide technical advice on proposed changes to facility infrastructure and systems, from general concepts through to detailed IFC designs.Plan, coordinate, administer and execute tasks in support of critical infrastructure configuration change.Provide technical recommendations, input, direction, and advice on facilities system, infrastructure, and equipment reliability, operation, maintenance, life-cycle management, and costing.Development of ROM costing estimates in support of facility infrastructure, equipment, and system modification, upgrade, replacement and/or recapitalization.Evaluate operational systems, equipment, processes, and infrastructure in support of general and targeted optimization and improvement initiatives.Ensure compliance with all site's environmental health and safety requirements.Any other reasonable duties as requested.QUALIFICATIONS – Minimum EssentialTrade qualification.Certificate IV Field: Mechanical/Refrigeration/HVAC or other relevant related discipline.Drivers Licence.EXPERIENCE – Minimum EssentialMinimum 5+ years' experience in progressively responsible Mechanical/Refrigeration/HVAC positions within the Government Services or related industries.Experience in any of the following areas:Power generation and distributionHeat transfer and HVAC system balancingLoad managementData centre cooling systemsConfiguration managementBuilding management and control systemsFacilities operation and maintenanceProject managementExcellent communication skills and ability to brief at all levels to include Senior Leadership.Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.Ability to adapt to change and contribute to continuous improvement.Positive outlook and willingness to collaborate with others to achieve business outcomes.Demonstrated customer focus.Ability to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the principles of workplace diversity and equity, and EH&SA.
