Engineering Manager (Tasmania)

Permanent, full-time position We have a position available in our Hobart branch, travel will be as required. Megavar Power Engineering is a niche provider of engineering services to the high voltage (HV) power industry. Megavar's portfolio of services includes design, commissioning, asset management, engineering consulting, condition monitoring, asset maintenance, and equipment rentals. We also offer turnkey HV solutions using a variety of partner organisations for the aspects of business we choose not to do.
Megavar has offices in Tasmania and South Australia with a client base stretching from power utilities to mining and manufacturing, to private HV networks.
The position We are seeking applications from Engineering Managers to join our team working on projects within power stations, switchyards, and substations. The role will encompass the management of the delivery of a variety of sized projects with particular focus on delivering multidisciplinary works and turnkey power system protection projects across multiple sites simultaneously.

Qualifications required Essential: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Skills and experience required 5 plus years experience determining, implementing, and monitoring engineering strategies, policies, and plans Interpreting plans, drawings and specifications, and providing advice on engineering methods and procedures to achieve construction and production requirements Establishing project schedules and budgets Ensuring conformity with specifications and plans, and with laws, regulations and safety standards Ensuring engineering standards of quality, cost, safety, timeliness and performance are observed Overseeing maintenance requirements to optimise efficiency Managing operations and maintenance of power stations, transmission and distribution systems, and industrial plants Liaising with marketing, research and manufacturing managers regarding engineering aspects of new construction and product design May contribute to research and development projects Audit designs upon completion to ensure specification compliance and regulations were met as designed Knowledge of Protection testing including diagnostic and HV testing of primary plant Experience with HV assets, transmission systems, transformers, switchgear, and control systems Attributes Self-motivated and able to prioritise effectively Willingness to work constructively as part of a team Positive and enthusiastic attitude Ability to communicate effectively Must hold a current Driver's Licence Benefits Working with an exciting, achievement-oriented business, you will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package.
