Project Overview: Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Job Summary: As a Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible and accountable to interpret, organise, execute, and coordinate all engineering technical aspects for complex projects where you will be representing and leading the engineering team on the project for all engineering activities. You will resolve technical issues and coordinate work amongst the team.
You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates and schedules where your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget.
Travel between Bechtel and customer project offices and sites will be required.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities: Responsible, accountable and supervises all engineering activities (all disciplines) on a small to medium complex project.Plans and directs engineering assignments on the project.Possesses full technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating these assignments.Ensures the facilities are designed in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner in accordance with policies and all applicable laws, regulations, authorization basis, codes, standards and technical requirements.Represent Engineering on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions, expedite procurements, coordinate construction interfaces and as required to coordinate work.Provides input to and owns the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets.Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-12 years of relevant experience.Preferential will be in field experience across either EPCM and/or EPC execution models on major, complex projects.Based in Perth or willing to relocate.Required Knowledge and Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.Demonstrated strong organizational skills.Proficient planning and problem-solving skills.Proven customer relationship skills are essential.Familiar with current industry quality standards.Advanced knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
