We are looking for an experienced and outcome driven Engineering Manager to lead and scale our team of full-stack and cross-functional engineers. As an Engineering Manager, you will be the leader of a technical team that works collaboratively with product and other teams to operate and evolve Kogan.com's e-commerce platform. Your responsibilities cover people management (direct reports), technical leadership, and delivery of projects.

What you'll do: Effectively communicate with stakeholders, influencing product, technical, architectural decisions, and process-related choices.Hands-on coding on the product, delivery of new features and functionality, and providing support for bugs.People leadership, coaching and mentoring of team members.Champion software engineering principles to deliver a better experience for our users and an engaging technology-led engineering environment.Design architectures and build components that deliver fast, smooth experiences to users across the world.Work cross-functionally and cross-team to execute on technical and business strategy and build experiences that our users will love.Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.Lead a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Set and define standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help coach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional development.Support all people-related matters for direct reports within the squad (this includes performance, leave management, learning and development plans, career planning, and any people management matters that arise). What you'll need: Proven success and experience in agile software delivery where your team was releasing changes to production at least fortnightly.Substantial people management, team leadership, and mentoring experience.Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment requiring adaptability.Developed leadership, organization, workflow optimization, motivational, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.Ability to drive execution by organizing team work, setting goals, and holding the team accountable.Ability to increase the team's effectiveness without compromising quality. More about the role: While no two days are ever the same, as an Engineering Manager you will establish and maintain great stakeholder relationships, provide coaching and mentoring to engineers reporting to you, oversee the delivery of initiatives, monitor operational performance, manage technical risks and contribute to company-wide technical discussions and initiatives. You will be able to pragmatically balance short and long-term considerations as well as technical and commercial ones while strengthening our engineering culture.
You will form a part of the leadership team for your area and will be jointly accountable for the health, happiness, and performance of your team. You will contribute positively to the culture of the team, build engagement and morale, be involved in recruiting, set structure and processes and generally help build and maintain a high performing team. You will use your skills and experience to guide and support our next group of technology leaders.
