Biamp is seeking a proactive and skilled Engineering Manager to lead a team of locally based firmware and software engineers working within global project teams.
Reporting to the Director of Firmware Engineering, this role focuses on guiding, mentoring, and developing team members to ensure the highest level of technical excellence and professional growth.
The ideal candidate will support individual contributors in solving complex technical problems while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
How you'll contribute: Team Leadership and Development:
Mentor and support the local firmware and software engineering team members, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Facilitate professional development and training for the team, ensuring they have the skills necessary to contribute effectively to global projects.
Empower team members to identify timely technical solutions to engineering challenges.Technical Support and Guidance:
Collaborate with global teams to align local efforts with broader project objectives, ensuring coherence in technical execution and innovation.
Serve as the primary technical advisor to direct reports, enabling them to navigate complex engineering problems and balance project priorities.Performance Management:
Conduct regular performance assessments, providing constructive feedback and setting clear expectations and goals for team members.
Facilitate career development discussions and create individualized plans to advance team member growth and proficiency.Process Alignment and Improvement:
Ensure adherence to Biamp's software and firmware development processes, championing best practices and quality standards.
Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement, optimizing team efficiency and output.Collaboration and Communication:
Foster strong relationships with peer managers and global team members to ensure effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on team contributions and highlighting areas of success and improvement.Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in strategic initiatives as required by management.
Perform other duties as assigned by your Manager.A successful candidate should have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, or Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a software or electronic hardware engineering environment.Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent.Ability to work collaboratively across global teams and navigate cross-cultural communication effectively.Skilled in problem-solving and providing technical direction to engineering teams.Experience in software development and engineering design processes is advantageous.Work environment:
This is an onsite position based in Stafford, Brisbane, Queensland.
Routine use of standard office equipment; prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
