Join the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as a Structures Engineering Manager to provide leadership in bridge and highway structures engineering. TMR, with over 9000 employees, promotes positive change and reconciliation, encouraging applications from all backgrounds.
Key duties: Providing technical support, guidance and approval for maintenance, rehabilitation and strengthening concept designs. Ownership of the Structures Inspection Manual and Heavy Load Assessment Criteria. Contributing to and implementing continual improvement in the area of bridge inspections, assessment and whole of life asset management. Responsible for managing information systems relating to structures data and reporting. Reporting regular progress to the Director of Structures (Operations & Management). Your responsibilities will include: Managing a small team of Structural and Civil Engineers. Providing technical support, guidance and approval for maintenance, rehabilitation and strengthening concept designs. Ownership of the Structures Inspection Manual and Heavy Load Assessment Criteria. Contributing to and implementing continual improvement in the area of bridge inspections, assessment and whole of life asset management. Responsible for managing information systems relating to structures data and reporting. Reporting regular progress to the Director of Structures (Operations & Management). To be successful in the role, you will possess: A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) accreditation (area of Engineering - Structural). Strong bridge engineering background in either design, assessment or asset management. A good understanding of bridge asset management and lifecycle approach to managing structures. A high degree of interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to form and manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external. Experience of leading teams and delivering projects is desirable. This role is offered as a PO6 and may attract an attraction and retention incentive of up to 20% of superannuable salary. This is a permanent, fulltime position based in Brisbane, Queensland with flexible working arrangements on offer.
