Avonwood designs, develops and manufactures electronic identification technology, specialising in Proximity Warning Systems and Key Compromise Protection Systems. We pride ourselves on creating and delivering cutting-edge identification technology and integrated solutions which offer risk mitigation, reduction, and safeguarding in industrial workplaces and secure establishments.
We seek an engineering manager to lead our small team of multi-disciplined engineers responsible for electronic design, software design, product integration, manufacturing design, and product support. The Engineering Manager will oversee the planning, development, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet quality and compliance standards.
You'll need to be hands-on enough to understand the technical details and comfortable managing and leading a multi-disciplined team to develop, deliver and support our products and solutions.
Understanding electronics and electronics design, software development and design, cloud-based applications, IOT-related systems, and identification technologies will be an advantage. A passion for helping the team solve challenges and deliver quality products is essential.
Job description and responsibilities Oversee the development, execution, and completion of engineering projects across different disciplines. Manage and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors and services. Solve technical challenges and deliver results. Expand our development capabilities and ensure that projects align with company goals and the product roadmap. Ensure performance optimisation and efficient use of engineering resources. Design, implement, and refine processes to improve efficiency, sustainability, and reduce waste. Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, such as customers and other company members. Ensure processes and products meet quality standards and safety compliance guidelines. Conduct research and development for new designs, products, and processes and work closely with the product manager. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and control. Ensure budgets are calculated and reported on while ensuring projects are completed on time. Skills Proven engineering management background with strong project management skills. Strong team management skills to enable team growth and motivation. Ability to balance the needs of the team with the needs of the business. Advocate for resources and support for the team while maintaining productivity. Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Good at resource management and planning. Understanding of electronics, electronics design, software design, cloud-based applications, IOT-related systems and identification technologies. Manage developments from concept through to validation and launch, including regulatory requirements and design for manufacturing. Research and develop new technologies and processes for products, product updates and cost-reduction activities. Good knowledge of development processes, driving improvements to maximise efficiency and maintain full ISO compliance. Contribute to creating the product roadmap by working with the product manager. Strong problem-solving skills to assist the team and the wider business. Preferred Experience Management qualification or experience in a similar role. Project management qualifications or experience. Experience of product manufacturing, system design and software design. Experience of ISO 9001 quality management system. Job Type Office Based, Full-time, Permanent (subject to probation period)
