About the Role
This role involves setting the technical direction, making critical architectural decisions, and ensuring engineering practices align with industry standards and best practices. The manager leads by example in technical proficiency, fosters innovation, and mentors team members to enhance their skills in cloud technologies and SaaS development.
Additionally, the manager collaborates closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. They ensure that the architectural integrity and performance of the cloud-based software meet organisational objectives, delivering exceptional value to users.
Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:
As an Engineering Manager at MYOB, your role involves providing both technical and architectural leadership to a team of software engineers. The main objective is to ensure the team designs and develops robust, scalable, and efficient cloud-based software solutions for MYOB's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products. This involves various key responsibilities and actions:
Lead the design and development of scalable, robust, and efficient cloud-based software solutions for SaaS products.Set and communicate the technical vision and direction for the engineering team.Define and oversee the architecture of cloud infrastructure modern cloud hosting models.Ensure the software architecture supports performance, scalability, and security requirements.Implement and promote engineering practices that align with industry standards.Oversee code quality, testing procedures, and documentation to maintain high development standards.Manage team members' performance, career development, and professional growth.Drive the hiring, onboarding, and retention of engineering talent.Provide guidance and mentorship to enhance the team's skills.Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence.Manage and optimise cloud resources for efficiency and cost-effectiveness through effective cloud management. The Skills You'll Need: Several years of hands-on experience in software development.Proven experience with architecting cloud hosted platforms.Demonstrated leadership of skilled development teams in product development.In-depth experience in implementing high performance development capabilities, utilising agile methodologies.Demonstrated experience in driving continual improvement of the Product Development lifecycle, ensuring there is strong alignment to business outcomes.Experience developing financial or accounting systems preferred.
