ENGINEERING MANAGER - DESIGN & DFMEA - MANUFACTURINGA successful and long-established manufacturing business needs an engineering manager to join its large and successful business. They need someone who has experience managing and leading a team of Engineers in a manufacturing environment.
They have a very modern business & workshop which consist of the latest manufacturing technology. They manufacture and sell large capital equipment for the road transport industry across Australia.
As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineering professionals responsible for the design of all manufacturing new build projects, service projects and production process improvements. You will use engineering principles to execute creative and unique solutions and will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining all drawings, parts and models within Solidworks, as well as the release of projects into SAP B1. You will contribute your knowledge into the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and provide recommendations as required.
You will possess outstanding people skills and management across the team. The role will have budgetary responsibility for the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and being part of the management team, this position will be at times hands-on that requires strong capabilities in organising, planning, scheduling, forecasting raw material / sub-assembly requirements and communicating across the team.
Your role will include assisting with engineering design of various road vehicle projects and configurations, from engineering stage to completion/delivery. You will also participate in continuous Improvement initiatives, design reviews, R&D and cost-effective designs. Plus, support purchasing and production and, when necessary, liaise with internal & external stakeholders.

To apply you must have: Mechanical Engineering Degree.Manufacturing experience managing large complex projects.Experience leading and implementing continuous improvement principles.Experience managing and leading a team of Engineers in a manufacturing environment.Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, schematics and specs for drawing review, and approval.Member of Industry Related body, e.g. Engineering Australia.Strong experience in 2D and 3D CAD.Preferred knowledge and experience in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Lean Manufacturing techniques such as Six Sigma.Experience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to production.In return, you will be offered an excellent salary package and a long-term career in a modern, well established, and secure business.
