Engineering Lead

As an Engineering Lead, you take on leadership responsibilities within the Medibank Web (MBWEB) squad. Reporting directly to the Engineering manager, you will be tasked to lead a team of engineers as well as undertake all development activities required to deliver technology solutions. Within this role, you will be delivery-focused, expected to look through a product lens whilst also promoting a culture of best practice across technology. You will be expected to lead the resolution of technical development issues as well as ensure that system specifications align with solution architecture, whilst enabling your team and helping them reach their goals. With Medibank's 2030 vision, the Digital team is working on some exceptional projects across modulization, rearchitecture, and applying new technology to their tech stack.Responsibilities:Direct line management of a group of up to 8 engineers.Design & develop software including application, design, coding, testing, deployment and configuration.Translate product management expectations into fully developed functionality meeting customer requirements.Enable production support capabilities such as logging, monitoring and alerting.Design & develop components to support architectural test patterns using best practice & design patterns.Responsible for recruitment and management of team across leadership, mentoring and career development.Collaborate with other Engineering Leads around ways of working and best practice.Conduct annual performance and development reviews for all direct reports.Develop and maintain partnerships within the business fostering collaboration with external stakeholders.Champion and improve ways of working across the team.Skills:Proven experience in software design & implementation leadership experience.Ideally years of leadership experience or demonstrated capability in a similar role.Working experience using React & Java or similar programming languages.Experience working in an agile team utilizing Scrum or Kanban.Previous experience working within the scaled agile framework (SAFe) is highly regarded.Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices patterns.Good knowledge of AWS Services.Any experience or exposure to AEM will be beneficial but not essential.Inclusion and AccessibilityWe believe in everyone's potential and strive to make Medibank inclusive for all because different perspectives make us better.
