About the Role: As part of AGL's Climate Transition Action Plan we have committed to closing our thermal assets and replacing them with renewable energy and battery storage. We have plans for 5 GW by 2030 and 12 GW by 2035. As part of this plan we aim to partner with organisations to utilise the energy infrastructure and land on our existing sites to develop Energy Hubs where the focus will be on creating circular economies on site and optimal use of the existing infrastructure and new renewable energy assets.
We are currently constructing a 500 MW / 700 MWh battery on the Liddell site in Muswellbrook. The Engineering Lead – Hunter Hubs role will support the development program. You will be responsible for sourcing and distributing asset engineering information and condition data to facilitate process improvement opportunities for existing and new assets. You will develop a strategic roadmap that includes quality, governance, planning, improvement initiatives and engineering activities to support the successful delivery of Energy Hubs projects.
What you'll be doing: Take ownership and accountability for engineering initiatives in the lead up to the transfer from an operational asset to the new Energy Hubs model. Prepare technical and other documentation to support specialist consultants and vendors, for example writing the scope of works for consulting engineers to complete concept level engineering design works for proposed new facilities. Use AI and other modern tools to deliver a high standard of work with quality outcomes. Host and facilitate site visits and investigative activities, such as a geotechnical assessments. Influence positive outcomes across a range of internal and external stakeholders to support Energy Hubs projects. Lead site visits to supervise contractors to ensure that all work is completed as per AGL standards, the contract and industry best practice to ensure safe and effective outcomes. Manage the Capex budgets in order to plan and budget forecasts for future developments. About You: You will ideally be an inquisitive engineer with experience developing solutions for future planning of heavy industrial sites. Your ability to see the big picture opportunities, understand the financial implications for amendments to the existing site and the benefits to the community will set you up for success.
What you'll bring to the table: Tertiary qualification on Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering. Experience in large scale brownfield project pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. Advanced project management skills for large scale developments. Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
