Job Description Brooks Engineering Summer Intern Program We are excited to introduce you to Brooks Automation. Laboratory Automation Solutions (LAS) our clinical diagnostic division, specialize in the design and manufacture of compact, innovative benchtop automation for optimizing pre- and post-analytical workflows in pathology and analytical laboratories, and has installations worldwide. We are offering Summer Engineering Internships that will offer opportunities to put your skills into action, support your growth alongside mentors and open doors to future career paths. Intern Positions Software Engineer Intern (Position 1) What You'll Do: Support R&D with product updates, customize our Linux distribution, and assist in testing our operating system. What You'll Bring: 2nd–4th year in Software Engineering or IT, experience with Linux, analytical thinking and problem solving; strong communication skills, attention to detail, self motivated, MS office proficient. Software Engineer Intern (Position 2) What You'll Do: Contribute to new product design and support our existing products, research VLAN networking features, and develop a proof-of-concept system, write unit tests. What You'll Bring: 2nd–4th year in Software Engineering or IT, interest in networking principles, analytical thinking and problem solving, strong communication skills, attention to detail, self motivated, MS office proficient. Mechatronics Engineering Intern What You'll Do: Assist R&D team in progressing new product design and support for existing products. Tasks may include CAD drawing creation and updates, documentation updates to assembly instructions or manuals, building and testing of prototypes, maintaining equipment, design calculations, specifying off-the-shelf components. What You'll Bring: 2nd–4th year in Mechatronics Engineering, analytical thinking and problem solving, strong communication skills, attention to detail, self motivated, MS office proficient. Mechanical Engineering Intern What You'll Do: Assist R&D mechanical team in progressing new product design and support of existing products with CAD drawings, update assembly instructions or manuals, building and testing prototypes, perform design calculations, specifying off-the-shelf components. What You'll Bring: 3rd–4th year in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency in CAD, passionate about product design, analytical thinking and problem solving, strong communication skills, attention to detail, self motivated, MS office proficient. To be eligible, you must: Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have full working rights in Australia. Be able to work full time hours (except between the Christmas/New Year break) during the University summer break. November 2024 - February 2025. Be able to attend work each day at our office based in Virginia, Brisbane. Provide an introductory cover letter, resume and your academic transcripts for your application. Be studying the engineering discipline described or a relatable discipline. Submit your application by 22nd November 2024.
