The Role
The newly established General Purpose Frigate Branch, within the Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Group (NSSG) is seeking an experienced and passionate EL 2 Engineering Director who will:
Be accountable for providing leadership and direction to ensure a high-level of integration and consistency across Defence engineering and project functions.
Be accountable for managing and leading a high-performing team, including managing performance, delegating responsibility, guiding, and developing people.
Lead the planning and delivering of critical engineering activities, including the review and development of technical aspects of Approach to Market (ATM) and Request for Tender (RFT) documentation and artefacts, and the facilitation or engagement in industry workshops as required (note this may require official overseas travel).
Develop and maintain and/or provide input to the development and maintenance of plans and documentation required for project governance.
Engage and influence Defence senior leadership and provide the key link between senior executives and Defence employees.

The SEA3000 General Purpose Frigate Branch operates within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, as a part of the Major Surface Combatants & Combat Systems Division.
The Branch has been established to deliver up to eleven (11) General Purpose Frigate vessels, and is at the forefront of ADF Maritime capability delivery.

Our Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role will be an experienced and committed Engineering professional who has:
Experience with providing engineering and integrated logistics support technical services for maritime acquisition projects.
Experience leading complex projects.
Extensive knowledge relating to the methodology, systems and procedures within the engineering management function and have the ability to translate this into the provision of strategic level specialist and professional expertise.
Experience developing and coaching individuals; building effective teams; and will be able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Proven experience inspiring and leading a high-performing team to achieve results in a high tempo environment.
