Primary objective: Provide technical support for the delivery of land and related infrastructure across the Northern Territory.
Context Statement: The Land Servicing and Engineering unit is responsible for program management, design and construction of subdivisions, land servicing infrastructure, including trunk infrastructure, across the Northern Territory.
The unit delivers projects of varying size and complexity to either develop land or adequately service it for future development.
Projects delivered are diverse and generally include all essential service disciplines including roads, drainage, water, power, sewerage, and communications etc.
Key duties and responsibilities: Work in partnership with Project Managers/Engineers to provide technical support in the delivery of projects.
Assist Project Engineers and Project Managers in the scoping, planning, feasibility, design, and where necessary support the design of infrastructure for construction of land development projects.
Participate as a panel member in tender assessments, and technical briefings.
Interact with multiple stakeholders; both government and non-government, including contracted service providers engaged in the delivery of projects in regional and remote locations.
Participate in the inspection of works throughout construction to verify hold, conformance, and Practical Completion requirements.
Contribute to a culture of responsiveness and achievement with a focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of client focused services contributing innovative ideas and solutions to all aspects of departmental business.
Selection criteria: Essential: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related discipline by a recognised Australian Institution or international equivalent.
Exposure to or knowledge in, the provision of engineering services/advice preferably in land development, headworks, or related environment.
Knowledge of and/or ability to interpret technical and engineering principles, legislation, standards and practices relating to land servicing infrastructure (i.e.
subdivision, headworks, roads, drainage, water and sewer mains, electrical (HV and LV) and street lighting).
Collaborative skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and engage effectively across cultures.
Good written and oral communication skills.
A current NT driver's licence or equivalent, and physical ability to drive 4x4 vehicles for long distances, travel by various means including by light aircraft, and preparedness to work for short periods in remote communities.
Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or related discipline.
Experience in the abilities to use industry standard computer aided design software.
