About the role: WorkPac are seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our leading client in Gladstone. The Project Engineer will lead the delivery of Wall Raise Designs at QAL RMD1 and RMD2 as part of the Rio Tinto Aluminium Sustaining Capital Portfolio.The role will be responsible for all project management and engineering deliverables for the suite of designs across the QAL RDA to meet the annual DSA requirements as set by QAL Operations and the Engineer of Record (EoR). Key Duties and Responsibilities: Support Sustaining Capital Projects Leadership to champion a culture of high performance. Project manage and deliver the annual design of the RDA Wall Raise campaign by engaging the appointed Engineering Service Provider (ESP). Development of Scopes of Work relating to the annual wall raise work to allow tendering and award of works. Compilation of approvals documentation as per approved templates for Investment Committee submission to secure capital for project delivery. Responsible for project cost estimates and monitoring of project costs, review/approval of proposed and claimed costs, forecast spends, and interface between cost control and contract admin with the contractor. Interface management of design engineering with the project team, construction team, the ESP, including management of RFIâs from the Contractor and TQâs from Projects Team Schedule management to ensure actual progress and forecast activities are updated and feedback provided for the master schedule. Management of EoR site activities including, engineering and geotechnical investigations. Monitoring QA documentation and progress with both the construction team and contractor, including QA/QC inputs to the QA system (Qantrol). Review of changes to the ESP contract including variations, review of tender packages Provide clear and concise instructions to the ESP to manage the design as per contract Lead by example in demonstrating behaviour consistent with the RTA culture, and assist in fostering a positive team culture that is focussed on excellence in project delivery Skills and Experience: 10+ Years experience in project management, project engineering and quality control Experience in end-to-end delivery of projects from early study phases through to execution. Strong technical experience in bulk civil earthworks and tailings facilities A passion for developing a safe and collaborative team culture. Demonstrated experience in leading ESPs and influencing teams to deliver results. Well-developed computer literacy in Word/Excel including estimating & scheduling to manageproject work. Pro-active communication with leadership on issues, opportunities, and recommendations.
