Join us, as we contribute to this significant mission in the energy sector!About the Team & the PositionAEMO's System Planning division ensures medium to long-term power system security and reliability in the National Electricity Market. We develop the AEMO Integrated System Plan, a 20-year blueprint for the east coast's power system, and produce System Strength and Inertia Reports and the annual Network Support and Control Ancillary Services Review. Our team conducts essential engineering assessments and power system analysis, influencing major infrastructure investments and guiding industry and government decisions. As part of AEMO's System Design division, we aim to integrate large-scale renewable energy resources securely and efficiently.What you will be doingPerform power system modelling and analysis of the electricity transmission network using computer simulation tools.Provide technical support and advice on electricity planning and performance issues.Contribute to key planning documents like the Integrated System Plan and System Strength and Inertia Reports.Prepare high-quality reports on network capability and performance for management and project teams.Engage with stakeholders and support the preparation of advice and proposals on network planning.Develop a good knowledge of the electrical transmission network and generation in the NEM.Collaborate with AEMO staff and external stakeholders to achieve strategic power system planning outcomes.What you will bring to the roleTertiary qualification in relevant disciplines (mathematics, operations research, engineering, physics etc) and ideally relevant industry experience.Proficient in a range of general computer packages Microsoft Word, Excel and databases with some programming experience.Experience in using power systems analysis tools including the ability to use computer simulation tools for at least load flow and fault level calculation (e.g. PSS/E, Power Factory, or PSCAD).Demonstrated capability in generating reports suitable for submission to external stakeholders and management.Knowledge and experience in transmission substation design, cost-benefit assessment, and probability-based investment decisions.General understanding of electrical power systems, their design and operation, with basic working knowledge of electrical and control system theory.In return, some of our benefits to youFlexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave options.Professional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.Embrace a healthier you with our wellness program, discounted health insurance, gym perks and our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).To be considered, please submit your Resume with a covering letter summarising your experience and why you feel you would be a good fit for this role.About Our ProcessAEMO values diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, welcoming applications from all backgrounds without regard to age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, parental status, race, or religion.
