An exciting opportunity exists for an Electrical Engineer to support the Murray Region of Snowy Hydro. Reporting to the Manager of Plant Engineering this role is focused on managing plant risks, providing technical support, incrementally improving the health of the regional electrical assets, and serving as a technical and values leader in the region.
This role is based in Khancoban NSW, and is not a DIDO or FIFO arrangement, and is an outdoor adventurer's paradise that offers many opportunities for fun in the mountains.
As an Electrical Engineer in the Murray Region, you will be responsible to:
Lead root cause analysis processes for plant breakdown and defect events.
Develop and drive the implementation of corrective actions to address the root cause of plant breakdowns and defects, and to manage plant risks.
Technical management of critical spares holdings.
Develop technical methodologies, ITPs, IRSs and other commissioning documentation for complex maintenance work.
Advise on the priority of competing maintenance work fronts.
Provide technical support to the broader maintenance team on request.
Coach and mentor the maintenance team in the areas of plant based theory, maintenance strategy, asset strategy and business process.
Conduct engineering condition assessments during plant breakdowns, defects and routine maintenance as required.
Monitor maintenance outcomes and plant operation to understand the health and condition of the plant.
Continually review the maintenance strategy against the equipment management standards, plant condition and plant performance, FMECAs, and implement improvements as necessary.
Contribute to the Asset and Strategic engineering team's work to develop standards and strategies for maintenance and asset management by being the 'subject matter expert' for regional plant condition, maintenance and operations.
Initiate, drive and complete the engineering for smaller regional based projects as needed.
Act as a technical stakeholder for larger capital projects and major overhaul works to represent the regional maintenance interest. This may include contributing to scopes, specifications, tender documents, designs, design and constructability reviews etc.
Coach and mentor graduates, vacation students and cadets as required.
Champion the use of technical processes in the region such as change management, commissioning, drawing management etc.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
5 Years Experience in Heavy Industry, Hydro experience preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor others.
Experience in Asset Management principles and their application.
Strong written and verbal communication capabilities and demonstrated report writing capability.
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.
Demonstrated fault-finding ability and plant diagnostic skills including Root Cause Analysis processes.
Able to quickly and effectively adapt to changing circumstances / business demands in a measured and constructive way.
