Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.
Flexible Work Flexible working arrangements will be considered The Opportunity The Engagement Officer position plays a pivotal role supporting the NIAA to work in genuine partnership and enable self-determination of First Nations Communities.
The job is crucial in building collaborative relationships with First Nations people and communities to ensure effective policy implementation that aligns to aspirations of First Nations communities.
Delivering high-quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through effective management of daily activities and collaborative leadership are critical to the success of the role.
By fostering strong internal and external relationships, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and providing expert guidance and constructive feedback, they contribute to business improvement and uphold a healthy, ethical workplace aligned with APS standards.
This role is essential for ensuring high-quality service delivery and successful project execution within the branch, benefiting both the team and the communities.
These two vacancies are part of the place-based teams located in Toowoomba (1vacancy) and Rockhampton (1 vacancy).
The Toowoomba sub-region covers communities including Charleville, Cunnamulla, Goondiwindi and Cherbourg.
Some of the communities within the Rockhampton sub region include, Winton, Longreach, Woorabinda and Gladstone.
Work travel is required as part of the Engagement Officer role.
Additional travel to other NIAA sites across the network including Canberra, may be required.
A full driver's license is a requirement for this role.

The South Queensland Region (SQR), which encompasses both the Rockhampton and Toowoomba office, is seeking a results-oriented Engagement Officer who possesses strong engagement and communication skills with project management experience or willing to learn within this role.
Our ideal candidate will know how to build collaboration opportunities and champion integrated, place-based approaches to service delivery within the Central Queensland and South-West Queensland sub regions and across the Branch.
This role includes the following duties and is expected to be conducted with limited direction:  a high level of cultural acumen and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples strong stakeholder engagement skills and a demonstrated ability to develop positive and productive relationships across NIAA as well as with external stakeholders a high level of written and verbal communication skills including the ability to tailor communication to different and diverse audiences including the ability to provide high quality information in a clear concise manner maintain a firm understanding of local community needs and the services being provided within the community by government and non-government organisations well-developed organisational skills, including adapting to change, working with limited direction and managing competing priorities be professional, model the NIAA values and behaviors in all aspects of the position and demonstrate sound knowledge of the functions and objectives of the Agency demonstrate analytical, research and problem-solving skills exercise excellent decision-making skills and judgement and have the ability to work independently and respond quickly.
