An exciting opportunity has become available for an Energy Project Engineer within the Electricity Infrastructure team in the Office of the Technical Regulator.
As Energy Project Engineer you will work within a small team of passionate engineers responsible for safety and technical regulation of the electricity infrastructure in South Australia. This will include a range of duties including the auditing of the operators of large generators, grid scale batteries, transmission and distribution networks against their Safety, Reliability and Maintenance Technical Management Plans.
You will work on projects to integrate consumer and other distributed energy resources such as rooftop solar and home batteries into the grid. Previous projects have included the Relevant Agent based solar backstop in South Australia, Dynamic Export requirements and demand response requirements for electric vehicle chargers. This work can be world leading and aids South Australia in our transition to renewable energy.
Some intra and interstate travel may be necessary on occasion. Flexible working hours, work from home arrangements and support for continued professional development are available.

Key Selection Criteria: Please only address the dot points listed below in your application Knowledge of government systems and technical regulatory processes and proven understanding of the state's electricity infrastructure sector including associated regulatory requirements and current reforms and future trends and directions for the energy industry.Sound knowledge of the engineering principles which underpin effective safety and technical regulation including related issues, their relationship to economic / pricing parameters and benchmarking in other states of Australia and overseas.High level interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with proven ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with a broad range of people.Capable of working with a high level of professional independence, under general policy direction, work collaboratively in a team environment and exercise a high level of decision making and initiative in accomplishing operational objectives and priorities within the framework of the department's corporate goals.Qualifications:
Essential: Degree in electrical engineering, science or other related discipline.
Desirable: Post graduate qualifications in engineering, science, management or business.
Remuneration:
PO3 classification, $101285 to $107078 per annum.
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week.
Special Conditions:
This is a contract/term vacancy up to 30 June 2026.
