About the Opportunity Kimberley Land Council (KLC) is looking for a full-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in Broome, Western Australia.

Overseeing a team of seven and supervising the Senior Finance Officer, this role is responsible for leading the financial operations of the KLC, including financial management, budgeting, and compliance to support the strategic objectives of the organisation.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing best practices for financial processes and workflows Overseeing day-to-day accounting, cash flow management, and internal controls Coordinating and preparing annual operating, capital, and program budgets Providing financial advice and presenting reports to the Board of Directors Performing risk management through analysis of liabilities, investments, and revenue opportunities Managing grant applications, reporting, and compliance with funding agreements Ensuring timely preparation and submission of statutory reports and audits Supervising the procurement of consultants and maintaining the Asset Register Collaborating with the Senior Management Team to achieve financial objectives Monitoring bank accounts and approving payments as needed Supporting occupational safety and health practices within the finance unit Representing the KLC in meetings and liaising with stakeholders About You To qualify, you will need relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Financial Management with CPA, CA, or IPA status.
A minimum of senior-level operational leadership and organisational management experience in a complex or diverse organisation, preferably in the not-for-profit sector, will also be essential.
Demonstrated experience managing finance, accounting, budgets, and financial reporting is also required.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Experience working in an Indigenous organisation Familiarity with the Sun financial management system Understanding of Native Title rights and interests Experience communicating effectively with Aboriginal people, particularly in Northern Australia As our ideal candidate, you will possess exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills that allow you to influence and create shared understanding.
You'll also demonstrate a detailed, analytical, and strategic mindset, strong cultural awareness, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

About the Benefits Compensation, based on skills and experience, is a competitive annual salary of $145,000 - $160,000 (evaluated on skills and experience) , plus a host of excellent benefits including:
