Despatch Supervisor - Commercial Furniture About the role
As the Despatch Supervisor at Empire Office Furniture, you will play a vital role in overseeing the efficient dispatch and delivery of our high-quality commercial furniture products. This full-time position is based in our Mackay, Queensland facility and offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What you'll be doing Collaborate with the Branch Manager and Head office administration team to ensure a smooth delivery process for the customer, working alongside schedulers and providing local knowledge to ensure the most efficient truck delivery and installation runs. Supervise and coordinate the despatch team to ensure timely, accurate and effective delivery of customer orders. Monitor inventory levels and work closely with the warehouse team to maintain optimal stock levels. Liaise with customers, logistics providers, and internal teams to resolve any delivery issues or queries. Implement and maintain efficient processes and systems to streamline despatch operations. Lead, motivate, and develop the despatch team, providing coaching and support as needed. Ensure all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are adhered to. Manage goods inwards and outwards (labelling, checks, and measures). Perform regular stock checks to ensure accuracy of stock holdings across cash and carry products. Manage Van/Truck operations (loading/unloading, servicing and maintenance, cleaning). Ensure correct tools and spare parts are being taken to site and available in the warehouse. Ensure floor stock is fully operational, clean, and free of defects and action any internal warranties on a regular basis. Action all warranties that come through in a timely manner, prioritising delivery service with a customer-first mentality. What we're looking for Experience in a despatch or logistics supervisory role, preferably in the furniture industry. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team. Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities to coordinate multiple priorities. Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff in accordance with KPI expectations. Working knowledge of inventory management and despatch systems. Commitment to workplace health and safety. Physically fit to lift stock daily. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Suite. A White Card is a mandatory requirement for the role but can be obtained upon start date. What we offer
