Job SummaryThe City of Allentown is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician to join our team.
As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on specialized equipment found in fire apparatus, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform skilled work involving the maintenance and repair of complex equipment and machineryInspect and diagnose issues with vehicles and equipmentConduct routine maintenance work, including replacing fluids and lubricating partsTroubleshoot and resolve reported problems in a timely mannerPerform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systemsReplenish fluids and components of engines and machineryRepair and replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issuesKeep accurate logs on work and issuesMaintain equipment and tools in good conditionOperate various standard and heavy equipment and tools utilized in auto-repairRequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent qualificationVocational/Technical training in Automotive RepairFour (4) years of previous experience in repairing fire vehicles, equipment, and apparatusValid driver's license of the appropriate classificationValid state inspection licenseValid emissions licenseAbility to repair complex equipment and machinery and operate equipment/machineryAbility to utilize a variety of advisory data and informationAble to properly operate automotive repair shop equipmentWithin 1 year of employment, obtain valid ASE Certifications in various areasHold current Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) CertificationsWorking ConditionsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
