Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department (ED) Nurse to join our dynamic team at Gladstone Hospital.
This role requires a nurse who is skilled in managing emergency care, possesses Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification, and is competent in Triage and Resuscitation.
The successful candidate will have the ability to perform comprehensive assessments, respond effectively to rapidly changing clinical situations, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough patient assessments using the A-G approach and triage patients according to the Australasian Triage Scale.
Provide high-quality emergency care and prioritise patient needs in accordance with department protocols.
Respond rapidly and appropriately to critical situations and perform resuscitation and life-saving procedures.
Administer medications safely, including intravenous medications, following hospital policy and guidelines.
Liaise with the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, allied health professionals, and other nursing staff, to ensure coordinated patient care.
Use critical thinking to recognize and respond to the needs of deteriorating patients, escalating care as required.
Safely administer blood products, following all protocols for transfusions.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, adhering to hospital standards for confidentiality and governance.
Educate and communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans and discharge information.
Essential Qualifications and Skills: Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
Demonstrated experience in an Emergency Department or Acute Care setting.
Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
Proficiency in triage and resuscitation procedures.
Exceptional clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills: Completion of a recognized Triage course.
Experience in a rural or remote setting is advantageous.
Previous experience in delivering patient education and discharge planning.
