Your Opportunity
Wattle House, located in Perth's southeast region, is a Mission Australia hub dedicated to integrated service provision and delivery, addressing clients' complex needs and circumstances. Through our Family Support and Accommodation Service, Wattle House provides transitional housing, case management, and referrals to families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, ensuring they achieve and maintain long-term stable housing.
As the Emergency Relief Support Worker, your role is vital in assisting clients by facilitating access to essential Emergency Relief supplies, contributing significantly to positive engagement and outcomes for participants. Additionally, you will provide essential administrative support and ensure accurate data and record maintenance for the Wattle House team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide a welcoming and supportive first point of contact for vulnerable people who are accessing our support services. Conduct Intake of Emergency Relief clients and arrange Emergency Relief appointments ensuring fair and equitable access. Refer Emergency Relief clients to appropriate services where necessary. Manage the receipt, sorting and storage of donated goods and purchased food ensuring rubbish is disposed of and food parcels are prepared for distribution. Create and distribute food hampers to clients in need. Provide administrative support to the Program Manager including organising meetings, assisting with basic diary management, and administrative projects as directed. Complete a range of administrative tasks including but not limited to taking phone calls, booking appointments, coordination of emails and mail distribution, ordering supplies, maintenance of electronic files, and processing accounts payable, to ensure the efficient organisation of the office. Requirements for Success
With a demonstrated background working with vulnerable people experiencing a range of issues in Homelessness and/or Community Services and/or Mental Health sectors, you will be confident in your ability to build rapport with vulnerable service users, staff, and sector stakeholders. Other requirements include:
Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent. Competent in using computer packages such as Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Exceptional level of customer service skill and experience. Demonstrated solutions focused thinking and problem solving. Proven ability to manage several competing priorities and a constant workload of varied administration tasks. Client focused and respectful with vulnerable people who are accessing our services. Experience with manual handling and the ability to lift and carry up to 15kgs regularly and the ability to safely climb two steps on a ladder to put away stock while carrying up to 4kgs. Full driver licence with no restrictions. Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
