Hours per fortnight Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available.
Duties Assist in the management of the TasALERT emergency website and associated social media platforms, including ongoing development and the provision of support for use by other State agencies as required.

Undertake project and policy work in relation to emergency management communications and general communications and marketing.

Oversee arrangements for the provision of emergency management communications support across Government through the whole-of-government Public Information Unit (PIU).

Liaise and consult with other State agencies and emergency service organisations; officials from other local, state and Commonwealth agencies; and other stakeholders in relation to emergency management communications.

Provide advice and assistance on emergency management communications and communications strategy management to the Department and individual business units, and at a whole-of-government level.

Support public information management arrangements for the response to, and recovery from, emergencies as required, including coordination of the PIU and developing training and exercises to build the capability of PIU staff.

Prepare promotional material, publications, website and social media content and other material as required, including speeches, media releases, and liaising with external consultants such as creative agencies.

Liaise with the Government Communications Office and the Premier and relevant Minister's Media Advisers, or the media directly, on media queries, and undertake research and develop responses as required.

The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level. A degree or tertiary qualification or background in communications or marketing. Capacity to work out of hours during an emergency and as part of a regular on-call roster.
