At LRH, we are committed to providing high-quality healthcare services. Our Emergency Department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for high-level resuscitation and diagnostic services. We are currently seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician to enhance our team.
About the Role As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will provide clinical leadership within our Emergency Department. Your role will involve active patient assessment, mentoring junior medical staff, and coordinating patient management in collaboration with nursing staff and admitting inpatient units. Your expertise will contribute to achieving our Emergency Department performance indicators and organisational targets.
Key Responsibilities Leadership and Management: Supervise the clinical management of Emergency Department patients.Manage patient flow to meet performance indicators and organisational targets.Facilitate communication with other departments and the community.Foster a team environment and support junior medical staff in decision-making and patient management.Rationalize radiology and pathology use.Comply with initiatives to maximize efficient and effective use of hospital resources.Health Service Delivery: Implement strategies to minimize waiting times and length of stay in the ED.Reduce inappropriate admissions and discharges through guidance of junior medical staff.Be present in the ED as per rostered hours and be responsive during on-call periods.Develop management plans for potentially unstable patients within the ED.Supervise procedures performed by junior medical staff.Investment In Human Resources: Supervise medical students and clinical observers.Support and participate in the education program for all ED staff.Benefits and Opportunities Explore opportunities for career advancement.Access to Continuing Medical Education (CME) with reimbursement of approved costs.Earn a competitive salary in line with the Enterprise Agreement, with the option for Salary Packaging.Enjoy discounts and events offered by our Social Club.Access our Staff Wellbeing Centre, designed to support your health and wellness.Qualifications & Registrations FACEM or equivalentRegistration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Victorian Employee Working with Children Check or willingness to obtainPractice of Emergency Medicine at a consultant levelAbility to work with and supervise other staff, including junior doctorsAbility to function under pressureAbility to work as a team memberFor more information about this exciting opportunity, we encourage you to contact Dr Ian Graham, Chief Medical Officer on (03) 5173 8823 for a confidential discussion.
