ELICOS HEAD TEACHER – EVENING (PERMANENT FULL-TIME)

Overview of role

The Evening Head Teachers (HT) play a key role in the school, and together with the Morning and Afternoon Head Teachers, are responsible for ensuring the ILSC mission of a transformative learning environment for students and staff at ILSC is consistently upheld by supporting and mentoring ILSC Teachers in their day-to-day roles and responsibilities.
The HT is a key member of the National ELICOS Academic Team, reporting to the DoS, and working closely with other Australian campus HTs to ensure the continued alignment, development, and overall success of their ILSC campus and of ILSC Education Group. The HT position requires constant collaboration with the DoS, Teachers, and Student Services Team, to maintain effective communication of ideas and decisions. The HT is energetic, empathetic, approachable, and has strong people skills. They will act as a mentor within the academic team, guide teachers on ILSC policies, requirements, and expectations, support the DoS in academic operations, and inspire progressive ideas and continuous improvement within the organisation.
The HT works closely with teachers on a daily basis, and is instrumental in supporting best practice in teaching, assessment, administration, and continuous professional development. The HT is responsible for modelling and mentoring teachers in classroom management, and ensuring effective teacher induction, training, and development for all ILSC ELICOS teachers. They will represent ILSC core values internally and externally, participating actively in sector Communities of Practice and Special Interest Groups.
Job Duties
The Head Teacher duties and responsibilities will vary according to teaching load, and include but are not limited to the following:
Teach ELICOS classes (teaching load to vary based on operational needs)
Collaborate with Director of Studies and National ELICOS Head Teacher Team for effective teacher support and continuous teacher success
Support DoS in academic operations such as teacher scheduling and professional development
Coordinate teacher relief and classroom changes
Train and guide Teachers in ILSC Curriculum and Assessment documents and practices
Train and guide Teachers in ILSC LMS and EdTech software and practices
Run Orientation, Welcome Event, Placement Tests and liaise with ELICOS Admin Team
Oversee campus and teacher needs as required
Oversee eLearning and classroom resources as required, in conjunction with Resource Coordinators
Conduct student assessments as required
Contribute to Session meetings & Professional Development workshops
Plan weekly student notices
Assist with new teacher recruitment
Run new teacher inductions
Maintain and update ILSC Teacher Guide as required
Coordinate new teacher classroom observations & peer observations
Support Trinity CertTESOL Program, including assisting with recruitment and follow up of Teaching Practice students, and other Trinity-related tasks as required
Participate in and represent ILSC at external SIGs and CoPs
Stay attuned to sector support and opportunities available to teachers and students
Other related duties or projects as determined by the campus Director of Studies
Key Selection Criteria
Education and Experience
Recognised Bachelor's degree
Trinity CertTESOL, Cambridge CELTA, or Cert IV TESOL (or equivalent)
Minimum three years' teaching experience in quality English language institutions
Excellent understanding of TESOL methodology, programs, and assessment practices
Experience with online learning management systems and multimodal delivery
Demonstrated focus on continuous personal and team professional development
Skills and Attributes
