About the roleDroneShield is seeking a Radio-Frequency (RF) Electronic Warfare (EW) Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, Australia.
The position will report to Vice President, Embedded Systems.
This challenging role will have you working on production algorithms and features used in the EW space with a focus on driving both new and current capabilities forward with modern design practices.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Design, develop and deploy services with focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability to embedded platforms that utilise Software Defined Radio's (SDR), Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).Create and translate complex traditional and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based algorithms into high performance production software in Python and C++.Analyse complex time series, spectral and spatial datasets.Perform literature surveys for algorithm selection.Qualifications, Experience and Skills BS (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.8 years+ of Software development experience (Python, C++).Previous Defence or Defence Industry work experience in the RF-EW domain is mandatory.Experience working in a fast-paced environment as part of a scale-up.Experience in Linux embedded platforms.Working knowledge of modern architectural patterns and software design patterns.Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).Experience with at least one compiled language (Go, C++, or C).Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, JavaScript, or Shell).Experience with at least one database system is desirable (SQL or NoSQL).Domain Knowledge Familiarity with any (or all) of the following 'front-end' RF (receiver) components:Antenna modelling and RF propagation.Power amplifiers and analogue circuits.Analogue down-conversion (e.g.
heterodyning).Digital down-conversion and channelization.Digital (FIR/IIR) filter design and realization.Familiarity with any (or all) of the following 'back-end' RF (processor) components:Spectrum estimation and time-series analysis.Direction Finding (DF).Statistical detection.Signal classification using 'classical' and/or 'modern' (e.g.
deep learning) methods.State estimation (e.g.
