The Repair and Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring the proper operation, safety, and functionality of electrical systems and equipment within community housing, homelands and Mabunji properties. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, inspections, and installations to ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations, as well as addressing any issues that may arise in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:Electrical Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and other components in community housing, homelands and Mabunji properties.Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical issues, determine the root cause of problems, and implement effective solutions to restore functionality and safety.Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work meets safety codes and regulations to prevent hazards and ensure the well-being of occupants and users.Electrical Installations: Install new electrical systems, components, and equipment as required, adhering to specifications and guidelines.Inspections and Testing: Conduct regular inspections, testing, maintenance and safety checks on electrical systems to identify potential problems and prevent issues before they arise.Emergency Response: Respond, as per timeframes to emergency situations, such as power outages or electrical failures, to restore normal operations and mitigate disruptions.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, replacements made, equipment condition and safety checks for tracking and reporting purposes.Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, contractors, and managers to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and maintenance schedules.Client Communication: Communicate with community and homeland residents, department managers to provide updates, answer questions, and address concerns related to electrical systems.Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities for energy-efficient improvements and upgrades to reduce power consumption and improve sustainability.Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure all work is in compliance.Tools and Equipment: Maintain and ensure proper functionality of provided tools, equipment, and materials required for electrical repairs and maintenance.Qualifications and Skills:Hold a NT Electrical Contractor Licence or be able to acquire one.Refrigeration/Aircon Mechanic highly desirable.NT manual Drivers Licence or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical problems.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Effective communication skills to interact with residents, business owners, and team members.Prior experience in repair and maintenance work is preferred.Knowledge of energy-efficient practices and technologies.Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks in various environments.Willingness to work flexible hours, including emergencies outside normal working hours.Your application will include the following questions:
