Electrical Stores/Purchasing Officer
About the Role
In our pursuit of expansion under the guidance of our skilled Leadership Team, we are currently seeking an Electrical Stores/Purchasing Officer to join our Team based in Unanderra (Wollongong).
The primary focus of this role is to manage, organise, and source inventory within a warehouse and manufacturing facility to meet project demands and stakeholder expectations.
This involves receiving, inspecting and storing materials, maintaining precise inventory records, picking and packing items and preparing them for manufacturing and dispatch.
Additionally, the role includes conducting regular stock checks for accuracy, operating equipment like forklifts, and ensuring a safe, clean work environment.
Overall, the position is responsible for efficient inventory management and material handling while strictly following company policies, procedures, work instructions, and WHS standards.
Responsibilities
Sourcing and Supplier Management Identify and evaluate potential suppliers/vendors.
Maintain good relationships with existing suppliers.
Negotiate prices to ensure best value and Leadtime.
Ensure suppliers meet quality, delivery and cost requirements.
Purchasing and Ordering Prepare purchase orders for necessary goods and supplies.
Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock as needed.
Ensure that purchases are cost-effective and meet quality standards.
Track orders and ensure timely delivery of products.
Inventory Management Maintain accurate records of inventory and purchases.
Perform regular inventory audits and stock counts.
Ensure stock rotation.
Work with store staff to ensure products are appropriately stored and managed.
Analyse consumption patterns and adjust order quantities accordingly.
Manage remote store locations with factory.
Cost Control Monitor market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
Identify opportunities to save costs and improve efficiency.
Avoid overstocking or understocking by closely monitoring inventory data.
Quality Control Inspect goods upon arrival to ensure they meet quality and quantity specifications.
Address any discrepancies or damaged items with suppliers.
Keep track of quality-related supplier performance.
Record Keeping and Reporting Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, contracts, invoices and delivery details.
Maintain databases for suppliers and inventory.
Receipt of customer and internal jobs.
Posting store stock & consignment stock to jobs.
Compliance and Documentation Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures.
Handle and process documentation from suppliers.
Handle documentation required for imported or specialised goods.
Collaboration and Coordination Collaborate with other departments (e.g., sales, finance, operations) to ensure alignment on purchasing needs.
Coordinate with the warehouse for timely stock delivery and storage.
Store Functions and Coordination Maintain a clean and tidy store.
Current competencies to enable loading/unloading of vehicles utilising both overhead crane and forklift.
Prepare and package jobs/items for delivery and return to supplier or customer.
Dispatch of completed customer and internal jobs.
Processing the return of items to suppliers and customers.
Pre-requisites
Effective interpersonal & communication skills Good communication skills, written, verbal and listening Ability to work independently, as well in a team environment As our market includes Defence, Mining & Marine, Medical & Police checks will be requested.
Permanent Residency or Citizenship within Australia Driver's License Desirable (not essential)
Prior experience in the use of Lotus Notes.
Prior experience in the use of Micronet.
