We are looking for an entry level Electrical Project Engineer that will support the North American Warehouse Solutions Team.
Vanderlande's Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling Systems, Warehouse Automation, and Parcel Sortation systems for our customers throughout North America. In this position, you will be working with an engineering project team in the development of an automated warehouse or parcel sortation system. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to ensure proper operation, can be installed and operated with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team.
Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with the engineering team. It also involves working closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities, improve processes, and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, drive, and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders.
Key Responsibilities: Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet the customer specificationsOptimize the system functionality from as-sold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.)Perform system and component level calculations to size components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control panels, control networks, etc.)Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applicationsApply safety regulationsSpecify the electrical equipment required for the complete electrical system that operates and controls both the Vanderlande manufactured, and third party purchased itemsUse software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop the electrical designs such as wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bill of Materials, etc.Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractorTravel to site as needed to conduct site surveysSupport the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta, GA officeProject document control using a rights-based database systemRequirements: This is an entry level position.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 0 – 2 years of related work experienceOr Associate EE/ET with 3 - 5 years related experienceMust be willing and able to travel domestically up to 50% with occasional international opportunitiesAbility to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system designAbility to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is naturalGood communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverablesAble to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the detailsWillingness to learnProactiveAbility to work autonomously or in a teamMotivator and ability to work well with team membersAbility to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate actionStrong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion (Ownership Culture)Must have the ability to properly prioritize work/activitiesPossess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutionsGood interpersonal, verbal, and written skillsAbility to drive process improvementsKnowledge of electrical engineering theories and principlesDesired Qualifications: Basic knowledge or familiarity of OSHA (29 CFR 1910) Occupational Safety and Health StandardsBasic knowledge or familiarity of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC)Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
