Electrical Engineer – Copper Smelter Smelting & Refining, Copper Smelter - Maintenance Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia Ref. No. MIM003 The Mount Isa Copper smelter is one of two Copper Smelters in Australia. We process over a 1,000,000 tonnes of Copper Concentrate per year from both our own mines and from sources all over the country and globe. No matter where you live in Mount Isa it's always a short commute to work, and this position would be supported with a relocation package, and this position could be offered as a 5/2- or 9-day fortnight.
The Role We have a residential position available within our Electrical Maintenance team. This exciting opportunity will see you provide Electrical Engineering support, technical direction and Operational & Capital project delivery within the Copper Smelter and Mines Powers Station Electrical Team. This position will see you working in a multidisciplinary area, working with both technical and trade personnel, as well as continually interacting with contractors and suppliers.
Your responsibilities would include among other things: Provide Technical Support to the Electrical Maintenance TeamsCompleting Operational / Capital Electrical ProjectsProvide supervision for Electrical ContractorsElectrical Safety & Statutory complianceIdentify and complete Electrical Continuous improvement projectsSupporting supervisors and the management team to achieve Maintenance and Production TargetsPerforming initial troubleshooting and root cause analysis on breakdowns What we need from you: Tertiary qualification - Bachelor of Electrical EngineeringExperience in an operating process plant environment (minimum of 3 years)Project Management & Contractor Management skillsIntermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite including Project, Excel (including Excel VBA), and WordSafety as a core personal valueAbility to work within an integrated & diverse team at times with challenging deadlines.Excellent communication skills, both oral and writtenHighly organised with effective time management skills to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment.
