Gilmour Space is the leading Australian rocket company, pioneering next-generation hybrid propulsion technologies for small satellite launch vehicles. We are hiring for an Electrical Engineer to support the Electrical Engineering activities in the Software, Electrical, GNC, and Avionics department. As an experienced engineer, you will work alongside fellow engineers as well as the wider organisation, contributing to the product development and R&D activities associated with developing launch vehicles and/or satellites.
You will work as part of a high performing team throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, from initial scoping to requirements definition, design, procurement, manufacture, testing, assembly, and operations. You will be required to produce documentation and communicate across teams to ensure duties are performed in an efficient and timely manner whilst adhering to Gilmour Space policies and procedures.

Contributing as part of a team of Electrical Engineers to deliver Electrical products and services.
Where applicable, conducting junior leadership responsibilities (where technical authority is not required).
Leading small product teams on a quarterly basis.
Participating in the development of Electrical engineering designs, processes and activities.
To undertake accountability as a Responsible Engineer for Electrical units/subsystems.
Conducting technical assessments, including:
concept studies,
trade studies,
analysis of COTS solutions and estimates for Research and Development.
Adhering to and participating in product development engineering processes including:
requirements definition,
preliminary / detailed design,
review,
procurement / manufacture,
assembly, integration and verification / validation.
Supporting Electrical unit and integration testing and operations (may include travel to remote sites).
Supporting investigations, troubleshooting, modifications and fixes / repairs.
Supporting execution of Research and Development activities.
Supporting Electrical engineering production activities associated with the Launch Vehicle and Satellite product lines.
Coordinating with the Mechanical, Propulsion and Manufacturing engineering departments as well as the Production organisation.
Engaging with external suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Ensuring that engineering activities are conducted and documented in accordance with Gilmour Space policies, plans and procedures.
Other duties as requested by Management.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering, or a relevant qualification.
2+ years of experience in professional Electrical design engineering settings (excluding internships).
Proven ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Demonstrated resilience in high-stress situations.
NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Experience developing electrical units (batteries, solar panels, motor controllers, power distribution units, etc.).
Experience developing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition solutions.
Experience with industrial safety critical/real-time control applications.
Strong understanding of pressure, temperature and flow measurement instrumentation.
Experience developing and manufacturing harnesses.
Experience with mechanical design software (eg. NX, Solidworks, Onshape).
Experience in PCB development of analogue, digital and mixed signal circuits.
Experience with hands-on testing, troubleshooting and debugging electronics.
Experience performing electronics analysis and test (circuit simulation, power budgets, thermal analyses).
Experience designing highly reliable products.
Experience with the integration and verification of Electrical Units.
Demonstrated engineering experience within the space, aerospace or automotive industries.
Experience in Systems Engineering practices.
Experience with space engineering standards (GSFC-STD-7000A, SMC-S-016, RCC 319, DO-254, DO-178).
Experience with both waterfall and agile project management frameworks.
Ability to work in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with a desire and willingness to assist other team members in the general day-to-day running of the department.
