A great opportunity exists for an experienced Electrical Designer with a minimum 5 years' relevant experience to join our expert project delivery team. This is a permanent position, available immediately and will see you working with a group of enthusiastic and capable professionals. TfA has offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney & Perth, this position is available in our head office located in Docklands, Melbourne.
This role predominately focuses on the design and drafting of electrical, instrumentation and control systems for a variety of renewable energy developments, fuels, aviation, bitumen and lubricant storage facilities, and other general retail and industrial projects such as multi-retail centres, industrial subdivisions, and logistics/warehousing.

Reporting to the Director, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Productive, efficient and autonomous electrical design and drafting including document and quality controlCompliance with local regulations and standards, Client standards and specifications, and Hazardous Area requirementsPreparation of single line diagrams, schematics and termination diagrams, control system block diagrams, and MCC/SWB, FJB and Control Panel GA's and specificationsPreparation of site layouts reflecting electrical equipment locations, cable routing, earthing and lightning protection requirements, lighting requirements etc.Preparation of typical electrical installation details including pits, underground conduits and trenching, supporting arrangements etc.Contributing to the continuous improvement of internal electrical design standards including specifications and typical drawingsLiaising with product suppliers to obtain equipment specifications and adviceReporting project status to internal project managersSkills & Experience (essential): Have a minimum of 5 years' relevant experienceBe proficient in design and drafting of electrical, instrumentation and control systems including document and quality controlHave advanced skills in Autodesk AutoCAD (recent versions up to and including 2025)Be competent in the preparation of cable schedules, equipment and instrumentation specifications and datasheets under the supervision of a Senior or Principal Electrical EngineerHave the ability to interpret and/or contribute to the preparation of P&ID'sHave experience developing projects from concept design through to construction packagesHave experience as an integral part of multi-discipline teams in the delivery of projects on time, on cost and meeting quality requirements.Have the ability to effectively and efficiently liaise with internal multi-discipline engineering and design teams to ensure integrated multi-discipline designsHave the ability to multi-task and deliver multiple projects concurrentlyBe able to work autonomously and be highly productiveHave excellent communication skills in English and a high level of technical writing abilitySkills & Experience (ideal but not essential): Have formal electrical trade or engineering qualificationsExperience with maximum demand and cable sizing calculationsExperience providing contributions to technical documents including scope of works, functional descriptions and basis of design.Have prior engineering and design consultancy and/or direct client liaison experienceHave experience 3D modelling electrical infrastructure with Autodesk Plant 3DBe competent in the preparation of project specifications and documentation for electrical and instrumentation works under the supervision of a Senior or Principal Electrical EngineerHave prior exposure to control systems and automation, including PLC's, DCS and SCADA systemsHave prior exposure to Hazardous Areas and Dangerous GoodsHave prior exposure to light spill analyses and lighting designSpecific experience in building / fit-out electrical designHave experience conducting site inspections and audits and the preparation of reportsHave previously liaised with power and telecommunication authorities, suppliers and contractorsSalary & Conditions:
