Your opportunity The Lines Design and Engineering team provides expert and specialised underground and overhead powerline design services for internally designed & constructed assets – including the co-ordination of multidisciplinary design production to meet project, safe design and estimate completion objectives.
As a Electrical Design Engineer, your role will focus on the delivery of effective engineering design solutions and support for specialist Lines Overhead and Underground projects & teams.
If you have existing leadership experience and your RPEQ registration, you could be a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, where it will be your role to lead a team of engineers and designers as you provide RPEQ professional engineering advice, direction and supervision.
The positions can be based at Rockhampton, Townsville or Newstead.
Depending on the teams focus, specialisation can include Distribution (Overhead / Underground), Distribution Substation, Earthing and Public Lighting Engineering projects.

Provide expert engineering technical support to design and external customers.Prepare complex engineering designs, reports, estimates, studies and technical documents.Undertake detailed calculations and analysis as you utilise specialist engineering software.Lead & assist in the preparation of engineering specifications inclusive of assessment of tenders for design, construction, materials.Provide sound engineering input into network planning & customer connections options.Stakeholder engagement and liaison.The remuneration for your new role is from $151,765 for a 9 day fortnight, or from $171,495 for a 10 day fortnight + 14.75% superannuation The remuneration for a Senior role is from $176,846 for a 9 day fortnight, or from $199,836 for a 10 day fortnight + 14.75% superannuation What you'll bring Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category.Australian or New Zealand citizenship or an Australian permanent residency.We'd also love you to have:
Technical knowledge and experience in the design principles and practices for the construction and maintenance required for transmission, distribution, and communication lines engineering, with some understanding of the associated civil and structural requirements.Experience in the application of complex first principles overhead / underground transmission line design, including the calculation of overhead / underground cable ratings and the factors that influence these ratings.Experience with Overhead and Underground Line construction and installation requirements, including substation interfaces, maintenance and operation of substation plant and equipment, and earthing systems.Demonstrated expert knowledge and experience in engineering calculations and analysis techniques relevant to the role, including use of specialist software.
Working knowledge of CymCap or similar cable system rating engineering software and principles is advantageous.Demonstrate strong communication skills to develop, maintain and collaborate positive relationships with our customers and stakeholders.If you are interested in a Senior opportunity, in addition to the above, you will need:
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in the field of electrical engineering, with competency to complete underground/overhead design works is essential.Demonstrated ability to lead a team, providing technical leadership, support and guidance for the development of others.What matters most?
