The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the control system subcontractor, involved with control system architecture, managing design processes, and ensuring the seamless integration of control systems across multiple platforms. The Control System Design Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, to deliver high-performance and reliable control solutions.Key Responsibilities:Control System Design & Development:Manage the Control System subcontractors' performance and delivery schedule to the highest quality.Assist Control System subcontractors in developing control system architectures, selecting appropriate control algorithms, and designing custom control solutions.Specify and design control system components such as sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication protocols.Oversee the integration of control systems with hardware and software subsystems.Project Leadership:Lead control system design teams and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet technical, quality, and budget requirements.Coordinate with internal teams, such as hardware, software, and test engineers, to develop integrated control solutions.Develop and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.Testing and Commissioning:Define test plans for control system functionality and performance validation.Oversee control system testing in both lab and field environments, ensuring systems meet all specifications.Assist in system commissioning and support for installation in customer environments.Technical Documentation and Reporting:Prepare comprehensive documentation for control system design, testing, and troubleshooting.Create design specifications, interface documents, test reports, and user manuals.Present technical findings and progress to senior management and stakeholders.Continuous Improvement:Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in control systems and automation.Identify opportunities for system optimization and contribute to ongoing process improvement.Mentor junior engineers and assist in developing their skills in control system design.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.Experience:Minimum 7 years of experience in control system design, with a proven track record of leading control system projects in industries such as manufacturing, automation, robotics, or aerospace.Hands-on experience with control system hardware and software, including PLCs, SCADA, embedded systems, and industrial networks.Strong background in control theory, including PID control, state-space modelling, and adaptive control methods.Technical Skills:Proficiency with control design and simulation tools.Experience with communication protocols such as Modbus, EtherCAT, and OPC.Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849) and functional safety concepts.Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and standards.Soft Skills:Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-disciplinary teams.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and performance.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with industrial automation systems (e.g., robotics, HVAC, or automotive systems).Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in control systems.Certifications in control systems, project management, or functional safety (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety Engineer).
