Applications are invited for the ongoing full-time position of Electorate & Policy Officer in the Office of Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck, based in the Senator's Electorate Office in Devonport, Tasmania. Key responsibilities will include: Research/policy advice and administrative support on policy areas. Lead the Senator's parliamentary committee work. Monitor Senate procedures and activities. Drafting of research/policy papers and submissions as required. Responsibility for responding to constituent inquiries, telephone enquiries and issues campaigns. Liaison with relevant stakeholders on behalf of constituents. General administrative tasks within the Electorate Office as required. Travel to Canberra for parliamentary sitting periods may be required. Other reasonable duties as required. Applicants should possess the following skills and experience: Well-developed organisational ability and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a small team. An understanding of the Australian system of government and parliamentary processes. Well-developed office IT skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks concurrently. Employment conditions: The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include: A commencing salary between $71,245 and $83,179 per annum will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work. Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements). An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable. An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
