Senator Barbara Pocock is seeking a part-time Electorate Officer to join her team to be based in the Electorate Office in Goodwood, South Australia.This position is at 0.8 fulltime equivalent (30 hours per week) for a six-month term, with a possible further extension.The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984, classified at Electorate Officer A ($71,808 to $76,022). Conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27. A generous employer sponsored superannuation of 15.4% also applies.Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe Electorate Officer is accountable to the Office Manager and is a first point of contact for constituents and other visitors to the electorate office.The Electorate Officer assists with a range of general administrative tasks and the day-to-day operations of the electorate office.The Electorate Officer:Ensures the office provides a timely service to constituent and community organisations as their first point of contact, whether face to face, by mail, phone or electronic means.Ensures a high level of customer service is provided and that constituent enquiries are managed in a courteous, sensitive, and prompt matter.Researches, investigates and writes material on behalf of the Member/SenatorLiaises with other government agencies and departments to advocate on behalf of constituents.Keep the office informed of issues emerging from constituent inquiries, correspondence, and community newsletters.Maintains electorate databases of required information.Supports the team in running events and forums.Maintains archives and filing systems both hard copy and electronic.Assists with the coordination of bulk mail outs.Provides support to the Policy and Parliamentary team as needed in consultation with Office Manager.Ensures office security protocols are adhered to.Maintains equipment and systems, including office equipment such as folding machines and printers as required.Arranges for the purchase of office and general supplies.Arranges for minor office maintenance repairs.Assists electorate office volunteers with allocation of work tasks, setting work priorities, giving support, and guidance.Other duties as requiredSelection CriteriaHighly motivated and able to work proactively and use initiative, both independently and in a small teamA proven ability to prioritise and work in an organised manner.The ability to maintain databases and implement systems to ensure correspondence is answered in a timely manner.The flexibility to perform a broad range of office support duties and work towards deadlines.Sound written and oral communication skills.A proven ability to undertake research, investigations and draft a range of correspondence.Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide high level client services in a challenging environment.A proven ability to work independently and with minimal supervision and effectively in a team environment, and with volunteers.Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.Experience/Knowledge/Personal QualitiesExperience working in a high performing small team.Communication and writing experience.Attention to detail.Previous experience in a client service environment.Ability to safely handle confidential information.An understand of and commitment to Greens values.Please note, all employees are expected to sign a confidentiality and code of conduct agreement prior to the commencement of their employment.A probationary period of 3 months, with the option of extending by a maximum of two months, will apply.The position may require irregular hours and interstate travel.#J-18808-Ljbffr
