Description Chief Agronomist
A high-profile role has emerged within the esteemed Elders organization, seeking a visionary leader to spearhead their agronomy services.
The selected candidate will have the unique opportunity to oversee a Centre of Excellence, fostering collaboration with 250 agronomists and advisors across the Elders network. As the Chief Agronomist, you will be responsible for shaping the vision and strategy for Elders' agronomy services, driving innovation in sustainable farming practices through cutting-edge precision agriculture and emerging technologies.
Key responsibilities include: Developing and executing the overarching agronomy vision and strategy in conjunction with the EGM Strategy, Sustainability & Innovation. Designing and implementing a national training and development program for agronomists throughout the Elders network. Providing nationwide leadership and technical guidance to the Elders network, emphasizing best practices and sustainability objectives. Expanding and growing the fee-for-service agronomy offerings. Collaborating with suppliers and external partners to develop and lead pioneering research trials and demonstration initiatives. To succeed at Elders, you must possess: Extensive senior leadership experience within the agriculture industry, demonstrating a proven capacity to drive change and innovation in agronomy. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Agribusiness, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or a related field. In-depth technical knowledge across agronomy, farm input markets, sustainability, and research & extension practices. A passion for emerging trends in sustainability and innovation, coupled with an established network across the farm input industry (nationally and globally). A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels within the Elders Group, accompanied by a growth mindset. About Elders
