Base Salary: $77,152.05 - $86,402.70

The program includes activities to increase workforce capability and capacity in community-controlled aged care support and to empower the community-controlled sector to coordinate place-based aged care needs.
The Project Officer has the primary responsibility of connecting with and supporting Elder Care Support workforce employed within AMSANT Member Services. The overarching function of the Project Officer is to be the primary point of contact and ensure that non accredited training and support for workforce is organised, sequenced, and delivered to enable local workforce to support elderly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Project Officer will work closely with the Workforce and Training Coordinators. They will also help to coordinate and organise workforce engagement activities and assist in developing communication activities and materials appropriate for the Northern Territory context, including Yarning Circles.
Responsibilities Primary point of contact for all ECS workforce enquiries. Supporting the Workforce and Training Coordinator to deliver training and onboarding for program staff. Actively support preparation and facilitation of workforce engagement activities, including Yarning Circles. Assist development of aged care related communication materials, in consultation with ECS workforce and AMSANT team members. Understand workforce needs and provide proactive support including ongoing mentoring to the ECS workforce. Participate in regular monitoring to ensure the ECS workforce continues to respond to aged care information and service needs in the communities and member services where they work.  Support (and lead on request) project management activities, including activity planning and reporting, as well as administrative record keeping and filing. Other activities as directed by the WALS team Manager. Selection Requirements (Qualifications & Attributes) ESSENTIAL Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, politics and principles of Aboriginal community control and health sector. Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner. Experience in or willingness to learn about developing, delivering and/or facilitating training. Sound understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the aged care system. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of person-centred care and trauma-informed practice. Ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. Ability to or willingness to learn how to establish and manage project administration systems, including data entry and reporting. Demonstrated experience working unsupervised and as part of a team. DESIRABLE Qualification in community services, aged care, public health or Aboriginal mental health first aid Additional information: Original qualifications must be available for viewing and copies to be kept on personnel file.
