Salary Range: $141,719 to $168,910 (plus superannuation)Ongoing/Non-ongoing The Office of National Intelligence has current and anticipated vacancies across our mission teams. ONI's Intelligence Mission Analysts perform a unique role within the all-source analyst career stream.

We have a specific interest in candidates with backgrounds in the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and China.

Your experience and knowledge may have been developed while working for the Australian government in a diplomatic, policy or intelligence roles. Or you may have a think tank, academic, private sector or other relevant background.
The TeamONI's Mission Management Division (MMD) coordinates, integrates and evaluates the National Intelligence Community's (NIC) activities across the Indo-Pacific, including the Pacific, Southeast Asia and East Asia regions.
The RolesONI's Intelligence Mission Analysts perform a unique role within the all-source analyst career stream.
As part of ONI's all-source analyst cadre, Mission Analysts contribute to and benefit from ONI's world-class assessment capability, including assembling evidence, key judgment development, contestability and tradecraft.
In addition, our Intelligence Mission Analysts lever their geographic and thematic expertise and knowledge of the strategic context to inform and shape broader intelligence functions within the National Intelligence Community.
In doing so, our Analysts bring geographic and thematic subject matter expertise to bear on particular intelligence challenges and opportunities, and provide a bridge between all-source assessment capabilities and intelligence practitioners across the NIC.
Mission Analysts also support our foreign partnerships, collaborating with our international counterparts on key intelligence challenges.

The typical duties of an ONI Intelligence Mission Analyst include:
Planning, developing and delivering strategic intelligence products that ensure ONI's impact, through analytical rigour, effective prioritisation and sound business processes.Providing high-quality briefings to senior customers and timely input to policy processes.Supporting and shaping intelligence diplomacy and capability building efforts with partner governments.Contributing to ONI leadership of the NIC including by leading analytic projects that guide and enrich the delivery of intelligence outcomes.Cultivating and maintaining productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across NIC, government and with foreign partners.Fostering ONI's analytical principles and standards, and contributing to staff and analytical capability development.Key AttributesOur ideal candidate would have:
Expert subject matter knowledge with an advanced ability to link this to Australias strategic interests.Demonstrated experience in highly complex analysis, evaluating contested information and reaching robust conclusions.Expert written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and persuasively to influence the National Intelligence Communitys strategic direction.Excellent interpersonal and representation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and undertake complex negotiations across internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate collaborative teams, manage work priorities, mentor staff and promote and build a positive team culture of collaboration.Demonstrated integrity and sound judgement when engaging with risk.Relevant tertiary qualifications, in international relations, criminology, policy studies, international security, law, cyber security, security and counter terrorism or a related discipline.Candidate Information KitPlease refer to the Candidate Information Kit for more information about the roles, eligibility and how to apply.
