Careers at Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) EL2, Senior Director, Audit Technical - PSG A fantastic opportunity to support the Auditor-General and ANAO auditors through the provision of expert advice supporting quality and contributing to ongoing improvement. $137,682 to $171,831 plus 15.4% superannuation The Professional Services Group (PSG) provides direct support to our Executive through independent quality assurance reviews and the provision of technical audit and accounting advice. We provide vital support to auditors from all parts of the ANAO, through our management of the ANAO's technical audit supports including audit policy, audit methodologies and guidance, and our delivery of learning and development courses. We offer timely and high-quality technical auditing and accounting advice to our auditors when they are in the field. The group provides the Auditor-General with assurance that the work of the ANAO is of a high quality and in accordance with ANAO Auditing Standards.
The opportunity As a Senior Director, Audit Technical you will lead and manage a small team with responsibilities including:
Developing and maintaining the ANAO's Auditing Standards and audit policies in accordance with legislative requirements and having regard to national and international best practice; Planning and delivering ANAO quality assurance review program activities in accordance with ANAO's quality framework; Providing high quality auditing advice to the ANAO Executive and the audit groups, including supporting the service groups in resolving technical auditing issues; Providing secretariat support and technical advice to the ANAO Qualifications and Technical Advisory Committee; Managing the development, implementation and maintenance of audit methodologies in the ANAO; Planning, coordinating, developing and delivering technical audit training for audit staff; Developing strategic solutions for PSG and lead projects that are significant contributions to the achievement of the ANAO's and the Group's corporate objectives; Leading the ANAO's contribution to Australian and international auditing standard-setting and contributing to other national and international engagement with auditing organisations; Managing professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including ANAO senior management, central agencies, peer auditing organisations, standard-setters and professional bodies. Who we are looking for Our successful candidate will have the following:
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills; The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and a commitment to deliver high quality written outputs; The ability to lead a team, including providing oversight of the work of junior staff, coaching, guidance and feedback; Experience and willingness to work collaboratively across different teams/groups; The ability to establish positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders; Experience developing and implementing policies, processes and or guidance; A willingness to exercise autonomy and responsibility under broad guidance; A willingness to learn and develop expertise in auditing frameworks in a public sector audit context. There are no mandatory qualifications for this role; however, tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or experience in commerce, governance, accounting or audit are highly desirable.
Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ANAO, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance – The Australian community requires the highest level of integrity from ANAO employees. The preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Baseline level.
