Position Summary
The position leads the Business Development and Delivery Unit, within the Business and Technology Group
(BTG). This role is also part of the broader AIHW executive leadership team. It reports to the Group Head,
BTG and supports the CITO in the delivery of key technical applications and infrastructure. This position is
responsible for the development and delivery of ICT projects working collaboratively across all ICT functions
and with relevant business areas to ensure technical solutions meet the business needs and fit within
Institute infrastructure.
Unit Heads make a major contribution to the formulation of strategies and objectives in line with corporate
goals of the Institute, and take an active role in developing and promoting the Institute's business activity. In
addition to expertise in their professional field, they need advanced managerial skills to fulfil their
supervisory responsibilities.

Under broad direction from the Group Head, you will:
• Provide leadership, direction, and performance management to staff in the Unit to ensure
achievement of corporate objectives through the effective management of physical, financial,
technological information and human resources.
• Manage the development and delivery of ICT projects and provide regular status reporting in relation
• Manage the sustainment and lifecycle of AIHW developed applications and work with relevant
business owners to ensure applications continue to meet the business needs.
• Maintain a client focussed team that delivers high quality technical solutions that meet the needs of
the business and are in line with AIHW Technology Strategy and enterprise architecture practices.
• Provide high level professional, technical and management subject matter expertise on the effective
delivery of ICT projects.
• Undertake high level liaison and negotiation with other areas of the AIHW, other government
agencies, State and Local authorities and/or business or community organisations, and represent
the AIHW at high level meetings, conferences and seminars to develop and promote the Institute's
business activities.
Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will have most or all of the following skills and knowledge:
1. Demonstrated experience in effectively leading an ICT project delivery team, working on multiple
projects, to achieve business beneficial outcomes that are on time and budget.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the relationship across ICT functions and the successful delivery of
ICT projects. This includes design principles and software development practices.
3. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing project management principles,
templates and practices to improve the delivery of ICT projects.
4. Ability to shape strategic thinking by understanding the link between the work of the Unit, the
Institute and the whole of government agenda. This is demonstrated by your analytical thinking and
sound judgement to translate strategic objectives to operational goals.
5. Ability to communicate with influence both verbally and in writing with a range of internal and
external stakeholders. This includes your ability to negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
Relevant ICT qualifications or several years' experience working in ICT based leadership roles will be highly
regarded.
