The First Nations Policy Unit in Fiscal Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Executive Level 2 (EL2) Director. This vacancy is open only to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and is aimed at enhancing representation of First Nations people within our organisation.
The key duties of the position include:Show strong leadership and management skills
by inspiring and motivating the unit to be proactive, innovative, and inclusive, and fostering a work environment that encourages learning and professional growth.Demonstrate critical thinking
by fully assessing the implications of relevant policies and proposals, as well as the cultural, social, and economic issues facing First Nations communities.Engage and communicate effectively with First Nations people
who participate in all parts of the economy. This means allowing the time to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and respectfully navigating complex issues with a diverse range of parties, who will have their own set of views, priorities, and goals.Understand the strategic context of the unit's work
by identifying policy entry-points and end-points, maximising opportunities, showing good judgement, anticipating issues, and appropriately managing risk.Deliver results under pressure whilst being flexible and responsive to change
as part of leading a Treasury policy unit that is relied on for timely and high-quality advice - which influences policymakers and helps shape the implementation of government decisions.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
Candidates who identify as First Nations and have diverse experience and interests are encouraged to apply.Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, including but not limited to economics, law, commerce, finance, and/or public policy.Experience in
one or more
of the following will be particularly well-regarded:
Proven experience in government policy analysis, development, and implementation, particularly in relation to First Nations issues.Relevant experience in a non-government organisation focused on First Nations affairs (e.g., a not-for-profit and charitable Indigenous corporation).
