The DepartmentYou'll be joining a large Department at the forefront of protecting Australia and its national interests.The OpportunitiesTwo new opportunities have been created to join and set up a new branch, working on one of the largest infrastructure projects announced from this Department since the 1940s! These positions are not attached to a central communications branch; however you will work closely with the central team to meet and determine goals and joint project deliverables.You'll be joining a branch lead by an Executive who has a keen interest and investment in communications, working on project communications. Your responsibility will be to positively promote the work happening across the branch and in the community., communicating often technical communication pieces back to Government or external stakeholders, such as unions and business councils.EL2 Director - Communications (Perth or Canberra location) You'll be running a small function, managing a team of 5 to 6 people at varying levels. Your role will be across ministerial and parliamentary engagement, senior leadership support, stakeholder engagement and strategy, committee management, internal communications and the oversight of media.EL2 Director - Strategic Communications (Canberra location)You'll be working closely with the Chief-of-Staff to provide a high level of support to a Senior Executive. Your focus will be on strategic issues management and planning. You will use your communications and issues management background to positively promote your Executive, across both National and international stakeholders. The other part of your role will be to provide support across four branches, advising and mentoring on best practice for communications. You will manage a small team of 4 reports.Your Skills And ExperienceTo be considered for these opportunities you must hold the following:Excellent stakeholder engagement skillsA mix of both internal and external communicationsPublic relations and media management experienceGovernment experience is highly desirable, however not essentialEligibility And How To ApplyTo be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
