The Role As a Chapter Lead in the Defence Digital Group (DDG) you will be a leader with deep knowledge in a technical profession and experience in coordinating and coaching teams for large transformational projects with a strength in financial management.
You will be responsible for leading a team of Chapter Members who will be embedded in project teams but report to you as their line manager. You will guide Chapter Members' professional development, align how they work, and build credibility with senior leaders. This is a "player/coach" role, where about a third of your time will be spent on project delivery and the remaining two-thirds will be dedicated to managing and supporting Chapter Members.
Through your subject matter expertise and commitment to professional development, you will foster world-class technical skills within your Chapter and serve as a promoter of new ways of working. You will maintain and develop your own expertise, bringing the latest thinking to your work, and empowering others to spread knowledge throughout the Group.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Proven track record of leading costing activities for business cases and large projects in complex organisations. Ability to manage finances for large programs and/or projects. Deep experience as a workplace coach and developing individuals and teams to grow professional and technical skills. Ability to drive outcomes and execute on complex delivery initiatives. Advanced communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and initiatives, work and influence senior leaders and be approachable. Extensive experience in resource planning and allocation, and ability to adapt to changes in priorities rapidly. Knowledge in the application of agile ways of working. A desire to lead change and adopt new ways of working.
