The Role
The WHS Assurance Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex work health and safety work outcomes within an integrated workforce as well as those included in high-value, complex naval maintenance delivery contracts. With an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements, the WHS Manager will be responsible for identifying and addressing work health and safety risks and will need to:
Identify and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations related to WHS matters to achieve Regional Maintenance Centre - East (RMC-E), and Defence outcomes.Provide advice, collaborate and communicate with stakeholders on complex and sensitive work, health and safety issues.Apply relevant work health and safety legislation, Defence policies and procedures in the naval maintenance environment.Recommend viable solutions and prevention strategies to address work health and safety issues. RMC-E is playing a leading role in implementing Plan Galileo's ambitious reform program for surface fleet sustainment. Realising this will ensure Defence can support significant increase to the complex fleet of vessels generated through continuous Naval Shipbuilding. Development of sovereign sustainment capability is key, so Defence has the workforce, systems, tools, supply chains and infrastructure to support the future fleet.
The RMC-E team will oversee several high value naval maintenance contracts working alongside ships, whilst working together to coordinate and schedule maintenance for Navy vessels and to build resilient local and regional supply chains. RMC-E will contribute to the delivery of continuous sustainment to naval capability resulting from sovereign shipbuilding programs and ensure Navy can respond to changing operational requirements.
Our Ideal Candidate A minimum of 2+ years of experience in a Work, Health & Safety (WHS) role coupled with strong knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex regulations in a clear and concise way and provide advice to senior management.Good written skills in order to maintain clear and accurate records of stakeholder interactions.A proactive and problem-solving approach.Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.Baseline Clearance or ability to obtain the same.Start your application by clicking the "begin" button.
