EL 1 - Project Support Manager - Innovation, Science and Technology Capability Program
$115,899 - $130,733 + up to 15.4% Superannuation
The Role
As a member of the Innovation, Science and Technology Capability Program Management Office in DSTG, the successful candidate is responsible for providing project management support to our projects and governance within our program.
The successful candidate will provide guidance on risk management, project controls and cost estimation. Governance activities primarily include coordination and analysis of project reports and preparation of briefing material.
Valued skills in this role include working well with stakeholders and in a team, strong research and analytical skills, problem solving and issue management, prioritisation, resource and workflow management and experience in leading and managing teams.
The successful applicant will recommend outcomes and communicate with multiple stakeholders on complex issues.
About our Team
The Innovation, Science and Technology Capability Program Management Office in DSTG support the Capability Manager, the Chief Defence Scientist, and the Sponsor, Chief Science Strategic Planning and Engagement.
Decision support is provided to make timely decisions and drive program performance. In this critical enabling role, the Program Management Office supports program governance and is responsible for driving programmatic ways of delivering capability in Defence.
This team is the engine room that does the analysis required to ensure the right information is available at the right time to make more informed and timely program decisions. This is achieved through our governance, assurance and reporting processes.
We also provide our projects with guidance when they need help and look across the program and outwards to ensure integration dependencies are managed so that resources are efficiently deployed.
Our team constantly identify and appraise risks, issues and opportunities; and coordinate tasking to provide context and reduce the raw data for IS&T projects to respond to.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in project management along with a background in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
You will be able to work independently with minimal direction and be able to drive work through to completion.
You will be able to manage short-notice, reactive tasks alongside more involved project-based work.
The ideal candidate will have experience preparing a range of different material, including submissions, costings and briefing material.
You will be comfortable working in a fluid environment currently undergoing transformation where priorities and responsibilities can change at short notice.
Experience with agile approaches would be valued.
