The Role
Would you like to be part of Australia's effort to acquire new Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities – highly significant Defence technology that will position Australia to respond to strategic challenges in the coming decades?
An exciting opportunity exists for multitalented individuals to join the Joint Electronic Warfare Directorate as a Project Manager. The role involves the management and delivery of capability effects under the Integrated Investment Portfolio Cyber Capabilities Program of Work.
The Project Manager is responsible for the following:
Managing and leading the AUKUS EW team within Joint EW Directorate; Preparing correspondence, briefs, and reports as required including submissions and documents for higher delegate and committee consideration; Building and sustaining stakeholder engagement, including the ability to communicate with influence and negotiate effectively; Analysing, interpreting Project performance against agreed plans, developing, and evaluating strategies to achieve Project outcomes. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
Joint Information Capabilities Branch (JICB) is an integrated team of military (ADF), civilians (APS) and contractors (industry) who contribute to developing the Joint Force.
JICB develops and manages a number of capabilities being:
Joint Simulation Capabilities (JSC). Joint Cyber & Influence (C&I). Joint Position Navigation and Timing (PNT). Joint Electronic Warfare (EW). Project Management Office (PMO) including Health Knowledge Management & Digitisation programs. Joint EW Directorate is a high-paced environment, with varied work across a spectrum of activities. Work can be demanding at times with ADF expectations, program milestones and committee representation scheduled for a range of EW outputs and projects.
This Directorate is responsible for developing Joint EW capabilities in preparation for the integrated force's application of electromagnetic spectrum warfighting effects. This is achieved through engagement with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including international allies and partners, industry, across Defence and other Government Departments.
This team conducts extensive stakeholder engagement, presenting complex initiatives and planning proposals, securing agreement and participates in implementation of a range of EW initiatives. In joining Joint EW you will support the team in solving highly complex problems and will be instrumental in developing future EW capabilities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
Experience in leading and supporting domestic and international engagements in support of Joint EW projects and activities; Experience in leading technical staff and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects, as well as adapt and prioritise work to meet frequently changing deadlines; Experience in guiding others, driving negotiations and providing analysis to Executives to support evidence-led decision-making; Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders ranging from senior executives, contractors, APS, ADF, and technical experts; Delivering projects and their capability effects that are aligned with strategic needs and support Defence in the effective implementation of the National Defence Strategy; Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to lead a team that can pivot to changing priorities.
